Professor Bao's project, titled "Dances of Fire: Aesthetic Affect and the Intermediation of Early Chinese Cinema," looks at the historical operation of aesthetic affect and intermediality in Chinese film and media culture from the late 19th century to the mid 1940s. Bao received her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2006.
